Flex-on Safe-On Stirrups
Description
The Flex-On Safe-On is the safety stirrup that does not ask you to give anything up. Same shock absorption, same ergonomic footbed, same color choices as any Flex-On. Plus an outer arm that opens and lets your foot go if you come off.
Single-branch spring steel frame. The outer branch releases under load, then resets by hand in seconds. Nothing to replace, nothing to send away.
Important: the 40 kg rule
The release needs at least 40 kg (88 lb) of rider weight acting on the outer arm to open it. Lighter riders need the Safe-On Junior instead. Ask us and we will order it in.
Like any safety stirrup, it reduces the risk of a trapped foot. No stirrup removes that risk completely.
Choose your footbed and tread
- Inclined footbed — angled so your heel drops and your leg stays still. The usual choice for jumping. If an angled footbed has given you ankle or calf tension before, go flat.
- Flat footbed — the traditional feel. Usually chosen for dressage and flatwork.
- Grip tread — a textured composite surface. Plenty for everyday riding.
- Ultra Grip tread — adds stainless steel studs. It keeps gripping even when the footbed picks up sand and grit. Most of our customers choose Ultra Grip.

Common questions
Will the arm open by accident while I ride?
No. It needs your weight driven against the outer arm, which happens in a fall, not in normal riding.
What if it opens?
Push it back into place by hand. It is made to be reset over and over.
Safe-On or IR-ON S?
Both release. The Safe-On gives you far more color choice. The IR-ON S gives you a sleeker, modern steel frame.
Do they fit my normal stirrup leathers?
Yes. Standard eye, standard leathers.
