UlcerGard® is the only medication approved by the FDA to prevent equine gastric ulcer syndrome (EGUS), proven to prevent gastric ulcers in 4 out of 5 horses. Its omeprazole is specially formulated to survive the acidic stomach so it is properly absorbed, and it blocks acid production at the proton pump, whatever triggers it. The paste is well accepted and easy for any horse owner to give.

How to use: Give one dose a day on the back of the tongue or deep in the cheek pouch: ¼ syringe for horses of 600–1,200 lb, ½ syringe for horses over 1,200 lb. If any of the dose is lost, give it again. For horses of at least 600 lb only; safety in pregnant mares has not been determined. Not for use in humans. Keep out of reach of children.
