Description

The Flex-On Composite (the GC2) is the best seller of the Flex-On range and the stirrup most riders start with. Shock-absorbing elastomers sit between the frame and the footbed and soak up the impact that would otherwise travel into your ankles, knees, hips and back. The wide footbed holds your foot where you put it, so your lower leg stays quiet and your heel stays down.

The frame is composite with a steel core. That core is why Flex-On composites do not snap like cheaper plastic stirrups.

Choose your footbed and tread

This is the decision riders get stuck on. Here is the honest answer.

  • Inclined footbed — angled so your heel drops and your leg stays still. The usual choice for jumping. A small number of riders get ankle or calf tension from the angle. If that has happened to you before, go flat.
  • Flat footbed — the traditional feel. Usually chosen for dressage and flatwork.
  • Grip tread — a textured composite surface. Plenty for everyday riding.
  • Ultra Grip tread — adds stainless steel studs. It keeps gripping even when the footbed picks up sand and grit. Most of our customers choose Ultra Grip.

The variant photos show the frame color, not always your exact footbed and tread. Use the tread comparison image in the gallery.

Common questions

Do they fit my normal stirrup leathers?
Yes. Standard eye, standard leathers.

Composite or Aluminium?
The Aluminium supports the footbed at four points instead of two, so it feels steadier landing off big fences. For most riders the Composite does the same job for $135 less.

Are they legal to show in?
Yes, for hunters, jumpers and equitation. For the most conservative hunter look, see the Hunter H.
